📣 HVLA Back-to-School Letter for Parents and Students

Dear HVLA Families,

We are thrilled to welcome you to a new school year at Harrisburg Virtual Learning Academy (HVLA)! We have exciting news to share as we begin this journey together.

🏫 New Location: Cougar Academy

HVLA has officially moved from Lincoln School to our new home at Cougar Academy, located at:

1701 N. 6th Street, Harrisburg, PA

We look forward to welcoming you into our new space and starting the year strong!

🎒 Back-to-School Events & Device Pick-Up

To prepare for the school year, we are hosting mandatory Back-to-School and Device Distribution Events. These events take place at Cougar Academy.  All students must attend to complete enrollment. (This includes current students.)

Event Schedule:

• August 27th – Grades K-3 | 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
• August 28th – Grades 4-12 | 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Additional Opportunities for Families Unable to Attend Evening Events:

• August 28th | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• August 29th | 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

⚠️ Critical Reminders

• Attendance is Mandatory:
  All students must attend one of the Back-to-School/Device Distribution events.
  If your child does not attend, they are not considered enrolled and must report to their home school until an orientation can be scheduled.
• Device Returns:
  All devices should have already been returned to HVLA.
  If you still have a device, your student has likely been placed on the disenrollment list.
  You must return the device before your enrollment can be processed.
• No Device Returns During Events:
  We will not accept devices during the Back-to-School/Device Distribution events.
  If the device is not returned beforehand, your student will need to begin the school year at their home school.
  You will then need to complete the online application again and attend the next available orientation.

🎓 High School Update

All 9th–12th grade students are now fully enrolled in the HVLA program and taught by HVLA teachers.
These students will no longer utilize John Harris staff as they did last year.
All communication will go through HVLA Administration and HVLA teachers.
