Welcome to HVLA!
We are glad you are here!

Dear HVLA Families,
Welcome back! We’re excited to begin the 2026–2027 school year and welcome our students and families back to the Harrisburg Virtual Learning Academy.
HVLA gives students the flexibility of virtual learning while keeping them connected to certified teachers, live instruction, academic support, monthly in-person experiences, and the resources they need to succeed. We’re grateful that you’ve chosen HVLA, and we look forward to another year of learning, growth, and partnership.
Device Pickup and Registration
Current HVLA students may pick up their devices during the week beginning August 10, 2026. Our team will be available each day from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Families should be prepared to complete all required registration documents for the 2026–2027 school year during device pickup. Completing these documents will help ensure that students are fully registered and ready for a smooth start to the school year.
Important Information for Students With Unreturned Devices
Students who have not returned their previously issued devices are no longer enrolled in HVLA.
Families who remain interested in participating in the program must:
Return the device by August 5, 2026
Pay for any device damages, if required
Complete a new HVLA online enrollment application before August 14, 2026
Applications completed after August 14, 2026 will be considered for enrollment beginning in Marking Period 2. Students applying after the deadline must attend their home school for the entirety of Marking Period 1.
We encourage families who wish to return to HVLA to complete these steps as early as possible so enrollment can be processed before the deadline.
Back-to-School Night for New Enrollees
We’re excited to welcome our newly enrolled students and families to HVLA! New enrollees should attend Back-to-School Night on the date assigned to their grade level:
Grades 9–12: August 18, 2026 (5::00)
Grades K–8: August 19, 2026 (5:00)
Back-to-School Night is a great opportunity to meet members of the HVLA team, learn more about the program, review student expectations, and ask questions before the school year gets underway. Families will be given a full orientation at this time and will complete registration documents. We will start promptly at 5:00, so please plan to be on time.
Helping Every Student Succeed
While HVLA offers students flexibility and the opportunity to learn from home, regular participation and engagement are essential. Students are most successful when families, teachers, and students work together and maintain consistent routines.
Please remember the following HVLA expectations:
Students must log in from the Harrisburg area.
Students must log in every school day.
Students must attend all scheduled Zoom classes.
Students must complete assignments regularly and on time.
Students must attend Project Day once each month.
Parents must be responsive to calls and emails.
These expectations help students remain connected to their teachers and classmates, receive academic support, and continue making meaningful progress throughout the school year.
New Enrollment Guidelines
Beginning this school year, HVLA will have an open enrollment period before the start of each marking period.
Students may enter or exit the program only during an open enrollment period. Once enrolled, students are expected to remain in HVLA for at least one full marking period. There will be no movement into or out of the program outside of the designated enrollment periods.
Consistent attendance and assignment completion are also required for students to remain enrolled. Students who are not attending classes, logging in regularly, or completing assignments may be disenrolled from HVLA.
Our goal is to communicate with families early, provide support when challenges arise, and help every student stay engaged and successful.
We’re truly happy to welcome our students and families back to HVLA. We’re looking forward to a wonderful school year filled with academic growth, meaningful connections, and plenty of opportunities to celebrate student success.
Thank you for choosing HVLA and allowing us to be part of your student’s educational journey. We can’t wait to see everyone again!
Warmly,
The HVLA Team
